Chinese student application’s hits record high! Despite the impacts of Covid-19 and travel restrictions, according to UCAS, the number of Chinese applicants has increased by 21% compared to 2020, with Chinese applications reaching a record high of 25,810 for January 2021 intake!

The UKs vaccination rollout is in part responsible for the flurry of application’s, but the new postgraduate working visa, now called the Graduate Route, has also made the UK a very attractive study destination.

Chinese students graduating this summer and beyond, will be able to gain work experience here in the UK, without the need to be sponsored by the organisation employing them. This poses a great opportunity for British businesses to capture Chinese talent, and Chinese graduate’s the opportunity to gain much needed work experience.

So, UK Universities can sit back and relax, and see the applications pile in?

Absolutely not! Competition for places is now extremely high.

Potential students are bombarded with messages on all Chinese platform’s, as more and more UK universities targeting these lucrative segments, and consequently, Chinese students often hold upwards of 6 UK university places. So, differentiating your institution and bringing your campus alive, is now more critical than ever.

If you want to look at way to stand out, capture this attractive yet complex market, we are partnering with Weibo on their Spring education fair.

  • The education fair runs twice a year and is aimed at international universities and academic institutions. It enables brands to live stream to huge audiences (students and parents), from your UK campus.
  • Live streaming is a great way to gain exposure, interact directly with students and drive applications for Sept 2021. Live streaming also affords you the opportunity to nurture your offer holders, encouraging them to accept a place at your university.
  • Live streaming is usually restricted to Chinese based companies, so this opportunity, only takes place a handful of times a year.
  • We recently gained over 80,000 attendees for the University of Stirling livestream in the Autumn, and this was the best result for any university taking part in the fair.
